We have something like that around here too.

I've done it twice. The officer rides behind you for a while, Then you pull off the road so he can critique your riding.

If they feel it's warranted, they ask you to give them an autograph. 

It tends to be an expensive training program...

It's a great program.  A North Carolina State Trooper went to the UK and became familiar with the program.  He brought it back to NC.  He has retired since then and operates a great moto training operation in NC.  The BikeSafe-NC program is available all over the state.  A free one day training program with a group of local motor officers. I don't know if the program has expanded outside of NC.
