Dennis Andress
I did more riding and talking than picture taking this time. Here are the ones that made the grade. Zion is beautiful, but we met a Juvenile Ranger Rick at the tunnel who spoiled the whole thing. Red Canyon, just a few quick miles from breakfast at Mt Carmel Junction And looking to the left. It was on and off rain from here to Torrey, a welcome event after crossing the Mojave the day before There are two arches in the Red Canyon; always a nice place for pictures. Aren't they pretty? Yes, they are Harleys. I believe they were from Denver returning home after a one week ride. Taken from the Overlook along Utah 12 Along Utah 72, aka Sweeper Madness, looking to the East with a view so big that those dark spots on the ground are shadows made by clouds. A life, unusual. Best wishes to you and Sylva, Mark. Add more pictures if you've got them.... Dennis Link to comment
russell_bynum
Nice shots, Dennis! It's funny...we bought a nice new camera which took up 80% of the space in my tankbag on the Tuono, but I only managed to snap a handful of pictures. Most of what I've got is from that Okey Dokey road. They're still on the camera, but I'll try to pull them off tonight and get a few posted. Link to comment

Laney and Dick and I used to ride together all the time, but it's been a while...over a year, I think. It's funny how fast things fell back into place and we tucked in together nice and tight, three riders moving as one. Link to comment

Shawnee Bill
I just had to ride a back road while I was there. So I took the Hells Backbone Bridge road. This sign is about 1/2 mile to the north of where the Hogback on Hwy 12 begins. You can read the sign if you goto my SmugMug Site and view as Original size Nice ride, not sure I recomend it though, almost 40 miles of loose gravel, some washboard, but some fun steep downhills with switchbacks in the loose gravel. And they replaced the bridge with a steel and concrete one about 2 years ago. And the bridge from above. The Canyon it crosses, the picture really tames it. Link to comment

Bob Palin
What were the temps like this time of year in Torrey? This year was one of the warmer years with highs around 80 but not reliably - on Friday it was 80 at 10am but 62 at 12:30 when the rain arrived. There's no way to predict the weather at this time of year in the mountains, not likely to get snow at Torrey altitude but up on UT12 it's not unusual. Lows were about 45 but could have been 32, the last frost day here is May 31. Hope that helps Link to comment

russell_bynum
OK, here's a few from us: On top of the Mokee Dugway. Denny (Tool), Lisa (90%Angel), and Howard (PhillyFlash) 1100 feet down to the road. Lots to see here, but the picture doesn't do it justice. The mountians in the distance looked like one of those decorative sand art doohickeys with all the multicolored sand. Here's the Tuono in SportTouring dress. I've got a set of RKA saddlebags for the longer trips (Thanks Sam!), but for this trip, I only needed the tailbag and tankbag...and didn't even need to expand the tankbag. The bike is suprisingly comfortable and the only issue I had was wind pressure above about 100mph. My helmet was moving around enough to put pressure on my ears, which made my earplugs hurt. I've ordered a ZeroGravity Sport Touring windscreen and I'm going to be looking into helmet alternatives. With the wind issue fixed, this is easily an 800-mile/day bike. We did 550 miles getting to/from Torrey and I felt no more tired than I would have been on the RT. Howard, Lisa, and Denny again, summing up their feelings about the weather, company, and roads. Here's some bikes going DOWN the Dugway (much harder than going up like we did). At first glance, these bikes appeared to be Harleys, but since you only run into BMW riders when you're out in the middle of nowhere, that just can't be. And here's Denny on the "Gentleman's Express" coming out of the west end of Capitol Reef. Link to comment
norah
Russell/Lisa, Thanks for sharing those pictures; now I know what I missed by not stopping on top of the Dugway; to busy trying to keep the RT upright ! Thanks for sharing. Link to comment

Bill_Walker
I rode on Saturday with PhillyFlash (in the lead), Norah, russellw, Tool, JB-BMW, SageRider and others up 12 to Boulder, where we had breakfast, and down the Burr Trail until the pavement ended. The only pictures I took were at the end of the Burr Trail. Here's Howard (PF) and Norah at the Lookout Point: Here they are again, pointing who I should look out for: The magnificent Lookout Point itself, for context: And finally, the hazy view from the LP: If there's a real "Lookout Point" around there, it was too hidden and too far off the road for us to hike to. Gregori
This little guy we passed on our way across the 114° desert en-route to Torrey was wearing his evolutionary ATGATT. When we rode by, he wanted to check out our gear... My ejection seat, waiting for the riders to show up. And now the riders waiting for the road to clear. Can't see them in the photo, but some of the 'cowboys' were barely old enough to walk on their own... Some riding pics. (If you see yourself, let me know, and I'll send you the full size photo...) Todd (Gradude) says "howdy." Detail from previous photo. (Roger and Sue?) Yeah - looks like Signman is having fun... Lordy, this is one fine road... Picking up the stainless speed bump. (Now cool enough to handle.) Great country. I think I'll be back... Grins, Greg Link to comment

flat_twin
What happened with the stainless exhaust?? Aftermarket exhaust failure or just something laying in the road?? Sorta looks like a Staintune resonator. Yep - it's a StainTune exhaust system. The weld failed where the pipe enters the 'catalytic' box - it then came off the bike and dove under the rear wheel. Awfully glad it didn't jump off when I was leaned over! G Link to comment
