Yorch - 1100RT
Thank you everyone for your feedback. Several people have suggested that the bolt's bent washer is the culprit. Today, once the temp goes above 35 (F) I'm going to take it out and straighten the washer. I am also ordering a whole new bolt from eBay for about $25 that claims to be NOS. It should include a new rubber washer/grommet, too. Here's hoping. :) Thanks again! (Other good people are chiming in... should this be helpful. https://www.facebook.com/groups/311318068299/permalink/10159211967713300/) BTW - I spent last night reading. These bolts only get gently tightened. Emphasis on "gently". One guy even said "no sockets! Put it on by hand and that's enough!" Link to comment

Unless you have wiped the oil off of the lower front of the cover then it doesn't look to me like the that washer or the rubber seal under it is your leak. It is difficult to really tell by the picture but it sort of looks like the bottom of the cover is slightly bent where to oil leak is showing. An educated guess from afar is that you spilled a little oil on the top gasket seam when re-filling it after the oil change & that slowly seeped around the gasket until it ended at the bottom in the lowest place. Or you have a damaged cover, or damaged cover gasket, allowing the new oil to seep out. Or even possibly a leaking oil filler cap assembly (oil filler pipe) the "O" ring on those are a known leakage point. (see below) Clean the cover squeaky clean (including the gasket seam) then ride it few miles, then lightly spay on white foot powder or other light spray powder. That is pretty darn good at showing oil leakage paths. 1 Link to comment
Yorch - 1100RT
Good call! When I do the "bolt fix" later today, I'll be sure to clean everything squeaky clean. Long term plans are to get that aftermarket filler plug that opens with a 7mm hex wrench. Good for keeping pesky people (upset tenants, upset students, etc.) from messing with your motor. (Wunderlich "security" fill plug for Oilheads... unfortunately between $50 and $100! https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW_R1100_R1150_R1200_Dry_Safe_Oil_Filler_Plug_Kit or https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW_R1200_C_R1100_RT_R1150_RT_Oil_Filler_Plug) Link to comment

Morning Yorch - 1100RT I don't know how good those work, if I wanted to mess with it just a quick pry with a screwdriver & the entire fill pipe pops out (locking cap & all). 1 Link to comment

A couple drops forming underneath, too. Note.. that picture was take shortly after getting home. No clean up following the ride. Thinking that at least a new oil filler assembly may be in order. 6 hours ago, dirtrider said: Link to comment

You probably don't need a new oil filler assembly (oil fill pipe) as it is usually just the "O" rings that leak. 1 Link to comment
dirtrider
Evening Yorch - 1100RT The oil filler cap is a standard metric "O" ring 18mm x 4mm. Probably find that at a good unlevel auto parts store. The lower is also a fairly standard size, pretty sure it is 32mm OD x 24mm ID x 3.5mm (take old one with you to match up size). A standard # 214 "O" ring should also work. 1 Link to comment
2wheelsisbest
New Valve Cover Gasket sets come with the Bolt Seals & maybe the Spark Plug hole seal, but I haven't found a good source outside of paying 8 times their value from BMW Motorrad. There's nothing special about the Washer, and if the Bolt's not damaged, there's no need to replace it. Link to comment

Hosstage
But we never did get a follow up post from the OP with the resolution, solved or not. Maybe this will prompt a response. (Couldn't help myself also responding to a 6 month old post!) Link to comment
