duan447
Is the main engine wiring harness the same for ABS and non-ABS the same ? The clock light bulb on my bike was burned out so I removed it to find a replacement and the center contact of the socket came loose and shorted to the ground of the socket melting the wires all the way to the fuse box . The tell tale harness is repairable but the main harness is not . BMW boneyard has one but I'm looking at cheaper ones on eBay , but it's not clear if they came off of an ABS model . Needless to say I'm very frustrated and annoyed that removing a bulb caused this much damage . Thanks Link to comment

Thanks Morning duan447 On the 1150R there is a harness difference between pre & post 12/2002 motorcycles & a difference between ABS & non ABS motorcycles. Link to comment
duan447
Just to follow up , I confirmed with the eBay seller with the vin # and pictures that the harness was from the correct abs model . I wrapped it with rubber splicing tape since most of the outer insulation was falling apart and soldered and heat shrunk new wire to the tell tale harness . I had to remove the ABS pump and the rear subframe to do the switch , what a PITA . I had just installed SS brake lines , so I had to bleed the system again . Probably spend 20+ hours . Wish I had taken pictures . One bonus though , my $90 eBay harness came with a signal minder .The seller had removed the other relays but left that one . The bike started and ran first try , but I have only ridden briefly due to weather . Thanks again to D.R . Link to comment
