Inner bags

Hi folks,

 

Looking to get a set of inner bags for my 2012 RT. At this time I'm aware of the BMW OEM ones (too expensive, hard to find) and the ones from Kathy Designs. Is there any other option a I should consider. Any specific recommendation between the BMW OEM vs Kathy's?

RKA makes them. No experience with their inner bags. Have had their tank bags before and they were awesome. They also stand behind their products

I have a set of RKA liners for the panniers.  They fit perfectly in the panniers on my 2013 RT.  Well constructed of coated nylon.  They have an adjustable shoulder strap and an external pocket on the lid-side.  I doubt they are waterproof, but that's really not a consideration for me.

 

I typically keep all my riding gear (layers, balaclava, etc) in the left-side bag and my post-ride clothing in the right-side bag.  With the extended shoulder strap, I can slip  the bag over my shoulder, making it possible to grab my helmet and tank bag for one trip into the motel.

 

I bought mine used either from ebay or the classified section of either this site or BMWMOA.  Can't remember how much I paid, but it was less than new.  They arrived in "new" condition, no scratches, wear marks; perfect.

RKA are what you want. Great folks making great products. Love my side case liners from RKA (and my tank bag). These stand up on their own (support themselves), much easier to pack vs designs like Kathy's.

Hopefully this weekend, I'll get some happy snaps of the bag liners that I have.  OEM BMW.  $100 paid to the board and whatever shipping cost and they'll be yours.

Took me a few minutes of looking, to find this.  Unfortunately, those bags aren't on sale at $10 anymore (lol), but the host indicates that they work pretty well.  At $25 on Amazon, they're still quite a bit cheaper than the standard alternatives.  FYI.

Kathy’s Journey Bags are excellent. I use them in both my 1100RT and 1200RT.

Just for reference, I purchased inner bags from Kathy’s for my ‘09 RT. Still use them on my ‘17 RT. Not a perfect fit but very very close.
