My coffee this morning. :java:. With real maple syrup.

Although I have the obligatory coffee maker in my room, I generally don't waste my time. So yesterday I went without, thinking I would grab a cup once on the road. But the riding was just too nice to stop for anything but gas all day.*

*Well, when I came across this gate about 20 miles from the hotel, once I turned around, I guess I did stop to mark the territory. The gate was near a group of grazing cattle, with the closest one laying down watching me. It remained on the ground while I turned around, and also while I got off the bike to take photos. It must have been a male and felt threatened as I relieved myself (I'm used to that:ohboy:), as he ended his siesta and stood up .

Either that, or he took a liking to my back end! [Of the bike I assume]

While you guys have a couple cups in ya already, I have an hour to wait to wait for my first.

My neighbor set their alarm for 3:30 and let it go off for 20 mins. Been tossing and turning ever since. :4617:

In the old days it was a bottle and a 12 pack, now it's a coffee maker and supplies.

What has happened to us?

Years ago some friends and I took a week long trip in the Boundary Water Canoe Area. We stayed at one campsite because the fishing was so good there. Got there early afternoon, cook made "cowboy coffee", Grounds in pot, add lake water, boil. The next morning more grounds and water were added to the existing grounds. That evening the same drill. The morning we left same drill. When we were cleaning up getting ready to go, one guy put a large serving spoon in the pot and it stood up in all the grounds. Had a nice oily sheen on the top. Supposedly put hair on your chest.

Now if you plan on STARTing this year, you will be able to go home with your own START coaster.

You have to actually show up in Blairsville in order to receive one. Limited Edition, future collectors item for sure. :3:

There's a flood out in California
And up north it's freezing cold
And this living off the road
Is getting pretty old
So I guess I'll call up my big mama
Tell her I'll be rolling in...

More coffee at Starbucks in Opelika, AL. Not the best I have ever had. But it’s a pretty cup with Christmas music , I just hope it doesn’t start snowing. Where are my heated gloves?1F52DF0D-0AFF-445D-92AC-EFE65824B44A.thumb.jpeg.5c22edb06e630d49f5e08c869dc24ff9.jpeg

Anybody else use a poor over?

Yep

Chemex Ottomatic ... only way to make perfect drip coffee with a staged brewing cycle (ie hot water released in states)

Grind whole beans in burr grinder ... easy to create personal "coffee flavor profile" by mixing different whole beans before grinding

I've never been a fan of changing clocks forward and backwards.  It's like m'lady moving her clock's hands 30 minutes earlier so she'll only be 15 minutes late....makes no sense to me.

However, I realized that the time change this morning allowed me the excuse to have ANOTHER cup of coffee.   Life is good!  :java:

Stopped in LaGrange to warm up. On my way home. I don’t think that I like the Christmas Blend this year again. I thought would never ask.   It was sitting on the table when I went to sit down.   I positioned it for the photo-op, making sure it was pointed "safely down range."   No cows were harmed for this picture.   Pretty clever.

I left it sitting there in case the young lad returns to retrieve it.

  • 1 month later...

It has occurred to me there are some "fancy" coffee drinkers here. Some of my best cups have been made with sterno fuel heating instant coffee while fishing or on bike trips. At least the ones I appreciated most....

Let me add this angle to those using the coffee(?) machines cropping up in this thread!  :3:

As I read through this thread, I was struck by the diverse choices in coffee. Everything from sludge to connesuer!

Mine is pretty generic, but the pot is programmed to brew at 0315 and more often than not I start the pot before then.

That first cup at 0330 is my favorite time of the day. Unless I get a sunrise ride on the RT🌞

Happy January!

Below is a photo of my morning coffee this morning.

"No photo" you say?

Yes, and the reason is that I have to give blood at 7am and can't have any pleasures of life until AFTER the phlebotomist jabs me.  :87:

After my weekend morning 1/2 pot of coffee, I opted for some hot cocoa while waiting for Winter to arrive.  Wind gusts are really strong this morning.  Hunker down everybody!

Cheers!

Yes, there's a strange white substance flowing down from the sky and appears to be gathering on every horizontal surface.
