Knobs that hold the tail light on

Some of you may have already found that a 20mm multi-faceted socket fits the knobs, allowing you to use a socket set and extention to remove and tighten them. Obviously you don't want to over tighten them but you don't want the tail light dangling behind you either.

I also remember from a while back...

someone posted that they wrapped rubber bands around the studs behind those nuts to keep them from falling off if they loosened up.

I replaced mine with self locking nuts. I added a 10 mm socket to my tool kit for removal on the road.

I did the same as Kurt, snug tight only, bought the locknuts at Ace Hardware. The plastic thumbwheels that come stock are the same as those used at the rear gas tank hold-downs on a /6 and later but don't cut it for the RT rear tail light.
