When was the last time you checked into a motel where the owner & her dog checked you in & gave you a room KEY..an actual key, on a plastic fob, with your room number from a label-maker?

The Creekside Lodge, Maggie Valley NC,  April 24, 2022

My last time was April 21, 2021, at  START,  same place!!

Met a new buddy yesterday for breakfast (we're going to ride to Springfield, MO together) and then decided the chores can wait and took off for some twisties in Michigan's Irish Hills district.

The world is a lonely place when you run out of gas.

I chanced upon BamaJohn and Rockosmith at TWO in Suches just before lunch.  We worked up big appetites catching up on everything.  They were headed to Maggie Valley the long way, Wolfpen Gap and over Blood Mountain.  I talked them in to letting me tagalong for a ways.  Had to turn off at the Dollar General on Adair Mill.  Couldn't catch 'em to tell 'em I's leavin.  Waved and honked.  They were having fun but I knew I'd need gas real soon.

About 3 miles into the spagetti bowl of great little roads just east of Dahlonega,  I felt the first little hesitation.  Half a mile later the flame was out. Two more miles I'd have made it.  Several bikes stopped but told 'em I'd just wait on a guy in a pickup with a gas can.  Sure enough a guy and his wife in a beautiful new V8 Tundra saw all that white hair standin there and turned around.  A few minutes later I had enough to get me to that station.  There are still a lot of very nice people out there.  I gotta remember to set that trip meter and to get that low fuel light fixed.

If that had happened on an ART ride, we'd have another award submission to Dave, with a photo!

Every year, annual 4 days weekend, southern indiania, Rosemount Inn, Bedford Indiania, owner knows us. No dog.

Twice now, have been half way home and find I still have key in pocket.

50 minutes, 38degF , and misty rain half way - - okay.

downtown Grand Rapids traffic (s-curve on I-131) with lanes closed for traffic, at 830am - - not so okay.

And this idea of going to dealer for routine serfvice, is something new to me.

Those are good people in Grand Rapids! The famous S curve shut down? That had to be a congested detour on surface streets!

well, I have 30 reasons why not getting the r18tc. Even with trade in , I suppose would still be 25-26-27 reasons.

it did fit me well, and was enjoyable.

Although That scenario: broke bike (‘02 RT), trade in, get another. That is how I got the ‘09 RT, June last year.

anyway,,,,,, I stopped at one (two?) of the places I recall you having posted pics………

I went past Duck Lake beach yesterday also. Today I started at White Lake Channel on the Montague side and rode the shoreline to Silver Lake, Pentwater, the lake side of the Ludington pumped storage power plant, then back south on 31.  I only took a photo at the channel.

Another ride up the lakeshore. Photos from Arcadia, Point Betsie Lighthouse, the Glen Arbor lifesaving station, and looking out at the islands.  Oh yes, I did get caught in the thunderstorms south of Ludington on the ride back. About 30 miles riding in the rain.

Rode to work today 33C (91F).

Last week barely reached 10C (50F).

Next week should be more seasonal.

Sorry, no commute pictures.

Rode with son (tiger1050) and a friend of his (SofttailSomething) to Baldwin blessing of bikes.

Thousands and thousands of bikes there. Town closed to traffic except bikes.

Baldwin is 80miles away. Son had route planned out on GPS and we went on good fun roads and interesting places I had never been before. Had 250 miles on the day.

Had a few rides in recent days.

Yesterday, Ran some errands in Muskegon and Grand Rapids, with some wandering around in between.

here is a scene in Muskegon.

Statue of Buster Keaton, one of the early film makers. why such a statue? His family was vaudeville preformers that lived in Muskegon for the summers when vaudeville acts took a break for summer.

(And now In September is the International Convention of the buster keaton society and the Damfinos.)

I've lived in the west for most of my life, but I have never seen the iconic Bixby Bridge nor the Elephant Seals on the beach further south.  Hwy 1 has a few construction projects, but it was a nice ride.

It did happen, with a tipover (and busted blinker) for good measure, along with the lost tag and big oil leak in the FD!!

Had a nice "Bike Night" in Indy Tuesday.  Some nice bikes -

OF personal interest was this 06 - my former bike! I almost didn't recognize her due to the side cases being mounted!

Had lunch with @MikeB60 and @60Aviator in Fitzgerald, GA. I had a nice warm, 455 mile bug killing ride.

@dduelin joined me for the first 100+ miles and my first coffee stop.

Well, Dave come out tomorrow morning and you can add another 300 miles to your weekend total. :4323:

Let's go a little west and find lunch. You have to keep that fuel rotated in your tank.

Those rides up north are what I really miss since moving.  Rode up to Sebring and back two weeks ago and 1 year and 2 days after hitting that deer in Utah, one came across from the left side and jumped over me, just hitting my mirror with a hoof.  The guy that was following me freaked out.  I saw it and was on the brakes and laying on the tank and was astounded to still be upright when I opened my eyes.

Continuation of our western ride. Left Sandy UT and Evanston WY greeted us with 34°  rain/sleet/snow. Landed in Montpelier ID. wet, cold, and tired.  Precipitation of some kind almost the whole ride. First pic is what we didn’t have to ride in. Turned left and avoided that monstrosity. Second pic Bear Lake ID. Gorgeous. Pic does not do it justice.
