John Ranalletta
Needed a rattle clamp for towing. Thought about getting the welder out, buying a piece of 1/4" scrap plate, a couple of 1/2" bolts, nuts, washers, etc. Really? When I can get a pre-bent, power-coated unit complete from China in less than 24hrs for 8 bucks. Link to comment

As far as the manufacturing, we've done it to ourselves, companies can outsource to make more money on a product, regulations and taxes have taken away many incentives and ability to manufacture. Also, companies are driven by profit more than quality product oftentimes, have to answer to shareholders, not business partners. Link to comment

On bumps and concrete joints, they rattle. A rattle clamp makes the hitch fast to the receiver preventing rattling. I just don’t like noises when pulling a trailer. Link to comment
Skywagon
Thanks John. I definitely need one of those. Never heard of it. I’m super sensitive to sound when towing the boat Link to comment

MikeB60
These things are great. I have a aluminum trailer that causes the hitch to rattle with a light load. This clamp was the cure! Link to comment
Hosstage
They're called beam clamps in the construction industry, $4. They're called anti rattle clamps in the motorcycle industry, $8. https://www.zoro.com/zoro-select-beam-clamp-in-electro-galvanized-steel-22fp82/i/G8551347/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping feed&utm_content=free google shopping clicks&gclid=CjwKCAjwhOyJBhA4EiwAEcJdcXeoQT8WPT_9EdV6Nw66PxgKOIiVzXLrR139QXWN7uADOHXUURRTsxoCWWEQAvD_BwE Link to comment
Skywagon
Kind of like the zoro ones Hosstage posted as they are galvanized. Mine will see lots of salt air and some salt water. Link to comment
Hosstage
They are available at Home Depot more than likely. We get them from our construction supply vendors. 1 Link to comment
Hosstage
Here's a picture of how it is used to attach strut to ceiling beams. Same concept on the trailer hitch. https://www.unistrutohio.com/unistrut-p2785-beam-clamp-1-58-channel?gclid=CjwKCAjwhOyJBhA4EiwAEcJdcQg3QxnuXW5p3Wz6O6NjOrv4-WZVaNRg9senGgJcI0gaRd8nP50ceRoCu74QAvD_BwE Link to comment
Skywagon
Thanks Hosstage...I'll pick one up tomorrow from Home Depot. The one by my house shows they have 48 in stock. I'll coat them with Zinc Chromate and they should be ok for a while. Less than $5 to stop that rattle will be money well spent. Thanks John for the posting. Link to comment

Thanks John for the posting. Happy to be of help. Helpful to have a cheap box end ratchet. I have one and keep it in the tow vehicle boot. Link to comment
