Mike T
I am trying to break loose the nut that hold the pulley on the alternator. Is there a way to keep the pulley from turning while the alternator is still mounted on the bike? Thanks Link to comment
Joe Frickin' Friday
install the belt; then the alternator is coupled to the engine. Put the gearbox in top gear, and apply the rear brake with your foot while loosening the nut on the alt pulley. Once it's broken loose, release the tension on the belt and then finish removing the pulley. Link to comment

Thanks There is a special star socket that you can stick in the shaft of the alternator to stop it from turning.......an 8mm Allen wrench fits pretty tight. You can buy the socket at a good auto parts store. Do you have an Air Wrench? They work great for this job. Mick Link to comment
