axabmw
Hi, I'm in the middle of an oil and filter change. In the (BMW) filter packaging there are several washers. One fits the drain bolt, one is larger, the rest smaller. What are the rest for? Link to comment

KMG_365
Hi, I'm in the middle of an oil and filter change. In the (BMW) filter packaging there are several washers. One fits the drain bolt, one is larger, the rest smaller. What are the rest for? You got the wrong "Kit" they sold you "to save you money". The R1100RT's had that configuration, but the R1150RT's need TWO large ones (for the tranny fill and drain), one medium one (for the engine oil drain), and only TWO small ones (for the FD fill and drain). Welcome to the club of R1150RT owners who have a few too many small crush washers floating around in their tool boxes, because so many dealer's parts guys have STILL not figured this change out--nor has BMW come up with a "Kit" for the 1150RT! Paul Mihalka
What makes sense from a dealer standpoint is to have kits put together that fit both R1100 and R1150 bikes. That way you keep only one type of kit in stock and avoids confusion and mistakes. The cost of some extra washers don't matter much. Link to comment
