Steve1962
Having already chalked up three pheasant strikes , I guess it was only a matter of time before I had a close encounter with some larger wildlife .well , this morning on the way to work I almost had it .............. riding down this road ......... .a large deer leapt out from my right , betwix two trees , and bolted across the road before I had time to react !! Having " regained my composure " , I rode on , with extreme caution , and here are some photos ......... Open countryside and no traffic .............. The low rolling clouds make for some nice photo opportunites .......... Floral contribution ........... Into Woodstock ............... it's a fair cop ......... Looking down the side street.......... From here, it's a blast down the by pass , and into work for a nice cupa and time to reflect on the eventful ride ........ Steve Link to comment
Boffin
Stick to the pheasants - I think the wild deer still belong to the Queen Glad you got away with it. Andy Link to comment
Steve1962
Andy, If I recall , it's all the fault of royalty anyway ... in the dim and distant past a herd of deer was given as a gift to one of the Kings [ can't recall which one ] , and some escaped ............. as a result we now have wild deer roaming the countryside . Francois_Dumas
I agree with Andy.. pheasants are 'safer' .... Actually, almost got one myself last week when touring around the airport on the GS !!! The Dutch ones are quicker... or, hemmm, probably I am slower ! Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
Beautiful country and pictures! Here in the USA deer are by far the biggest danger to motorcyclists. As in your case, they are so quick that if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time there is nothing you can do. I have two deer kills with motorcycle in my past. A few weeks ago Larry Grodsky, a well known motorcycle safety instructor and writer, died hitting a deer in Texas. You have to make up your mind of taking the risk or staying off the bike Link to comment
George Brown
Great photos of your Island. Reminds me that I need to schedule a visit. Glad you avoided Bambi. Link to comment
RPG
glad you made it. You have to deal with those things even in England???? Is there no safe place to ride anymore? This past weekend, four of us were coming back to Detroit via Alabama, Florida, and while in northern Georgia my buddy almost took out a huge wild turkey that decided an old RT going by might make a good launching pad. Luckily he just missed it but I'm sure it would not have been good for either. Rick Link to comment
Albert
Wow, dark stretch in the brush is perfect deer country. Glad to hear you avoided Steve, stay safe. Link to comment
Woodie
Glad to hear you're safe. Still, why is it that your drive to work looks so much nicer than mine???? Not only that, but you have time to stop and take lovely pictures! (I'd get run over if I stopped!) There's no justice. At least you're kind (?) enough to post the pictures for us. Link to comment

Hey, This morning I nearly got taken out by a deer , but I suppose that's better than being RUN OVER !! ps .....I always allow myself plenty of time if I'm riding into work , incase I happen across something to photograph .......or ....more likely ......... I select " a slightly longer route " Safe riding Steve Link to comment
Carnadero
Great photos of your Island. Reminds me that I need to schedule a visit. That "side street" view is magnificent. It just screams out "Merry Olde England". Link to comment
