My wife asked me how many bikes I’ve owned...I started listing them.  She remembered a couple I’d forgotten.  I was shocked.  I never attempted to count them before, but there were 17.
Is that a lot...can there be too many.
How many have you had?

Officially only 5, so far. A lot of miles between them though. (A whole bunch of others borrowed longer than originally planned from friends.) Can one have too many? Not if they bring joy.

I need one more. At least.

Had a similar experience a few months ago when someone else asked me, while my wife was sitting there, how many I’d owned. I said something like, not that many - my wife laughed and said I had to give a number. I picked a number and she laughed again saying it had to be way more. She did remember at least one I hadn’t counted, and I maybe remembered one more in listing them, but I still had been pretty close and her guess was way over.

If I’d had fifty bikes over the years that would make sense to me, but I’ve had fewer than ten and was surprised to find that to her it seemed like there had been many more (all but two were acquired after we started living together).

Oh boy, this is like asking how many lovers you've had!   Perhaps a more interesting question is:  How many bikes have you beer goggled and then sold the next day, after you sobered up?

I have to say, 16, 17, is pretty impressive.

In bikes and lovers! I think my number of bikes mentioned (5) previously is much larger than the second category...

More than 15, not enough according to this formula.

My wife was born late April, early 70's, don't ask me for the exact day/date, cause you'll only get close enough, she's the only one I can't remember the birthday exactly.

Not so many bikes

RM50

RM80

Nighthawk 750 (1995)-sold

R1200RT (2006)-still have

VT750RS (2010)-sold

I was always told that females stop counting birthdays at the age of 29. :dontknow: So yeah, close enough is well within the margin of safety!  :classic_biggrin:

Quite some years ago, a group of us were talking about wives and ages came up,....I was 34-35 at the time.  I was asked my wife's age, I replied "I dunno, 24-25, something like that", I got called a cradle robber.  So, I get home, tell the wife the story, she says, "I'm 29, we met when I was 24, I do age you know",....soooo, anytime someone asks her age, I reply, "24-25, something like that".......it's our little joke......she'll always be 24-25!!

Not many, but they still count.  Right?

1)  '78 Suzuki GS 550

2)  '84 Suzuki 650 Tempter

3)  '85 Kawasaki ZN700 LTD (awesome - still wish I had it!)

4)  '85 Honda VF1100S (V65 Sabre) project bike

I still have the 2000 R1200C and the 2019 R1250 RT.  So, I got that going for me, which is nice.

Only 8 over the course of my life. But for the most part, they have been good bikes that have done the job I wanted. So no need to spend a lot of my time paying off another. That said, it doesn't mean I wouldn't want to get another. I just try and keep my expenses in check. (no pun intended)
