Groanup

Some of what I saw in Torrey this Spring.

It was mostly cold and windy.

I almost missed it, but thanks to a couple of my friends, I didn't!

Friday, Carl, John, and I decided to take a quick ride up Sweeper Madness, and then head over to ride Gooseberry(?) road.

Gooseberry was (half) gated, so we didn't get up there. Others tried it. Maybe they can share their experiences on that.

Where 72 meets I-70. The wind was intense...

We stopped at the Mt. Glenno summit on our way back for a few quick photos...

Saturday, we decided to ride Burr Trail down to Bullfrog for lunch.

While our lunch plans didn't quite go the way we wanted, we did make it down there.

There were a couple sections of washboard I could have done without, and a long section of the paved road that had loose gravel spread all over it.

But we did it without any drama.

Here are some Images...

My first time here. Amazing!

As you can see, I finally managed to figure out how to reduce the size of my files...  :5188:

Sunday, it was time to head for home for some of us.

Carl, John, and I decided to stop at the "Petrified Forest" near Escalante. Had to pay a small entrance fee. It is a State Park, so our senior passes were no good.

There is a lake and campgrounds there, and it is a "dog friendly" park.

Here are some pics...

John and Carl posing with a stone that used to be part of a tree...

A couple pics of the lake from the trail...

The trail is steep right out of the parking lot. Trail break time...

These stones were trees once...

Headed back down...

That was it for Sunday. Carl left us to go back to Torrey with Bump, and we picked up Brian for the trip to Mesquite for the night.

One of the best (and coldest, and windiest)  trips I've made to Torrey!

I did make one last stop at The Grizzly Cafe in Wrightwood on Monday morning...

Moderators,

This may fit better in "ride tales".

If so, I apologize. I leave that up to you...

Valley of Fire, Nevada.  Sweet place to ride and hike.
