KeyLime
I’m in the position of having to replace my tow car safety cable used behind my Class C motorhome. I’ve always used the vinyl coated steel cable that it came with. Instead of that or chain, why not use Dyneema line of appropriate size. Nowhere do I see that option offered. Dyneema is now offered as an option for chain and steel cable in most towing, hauling and strapping applications. What do you think. Go for it.. Link to comment
Hosstage
Is it DOT legal to use as replacement safety "chain"? Is it uv resistant? I personally would not use it as a replacement for a steel cable or chain in that application. Link to comment
Rougarou
Warn uses synthetic winch rope, it has a 12k strength. As for Dyneema, if they can use it for lashing junk I don't see why it couldn't be used for your dingy. I'd use it 'cept for the price. Link to comment
realshelby
I have used similar stuff for guy wire cables and winch cables. It is better than steel for some things for sure! BUT....there is no way to make it coil up and act like a spring when using it to attach the dinghy to the motorhome. You could use some bungees or something....but in my mind the coiled steel cables are still superior for that reason. Link to comment
