BMWSportTouring.com was created by
S. Cary Littell, Jr.
in late 1996 as his personal home page. He wanted to do something to serve the community of RT owners like himself. It had such a positive impact on his life that he changed careers and now actually makes a living selling BMW Motorcycles, Parts, and Service through Marin BMW, just north of San Francisco. He purchased the dealership in May, 2001, and transferred this web site shortly afterwards.
David C. Baker was the second owner of the site. It was his vision and drive that brought the site to the worldwide scope and influence it now has. He is a management consultant who works with public relations, advertising, interactive, and design firms around the world through ReCourses, Inc. and Persuading. David has been married to Julie since 1981, and has two sons, Jonathan and Nathan. He loves riding enough to typically roll 25,000 miles per year. He is also a pilot (fixed wing and helicopter), loves photography, and enjoys writing.
Leslie Edmonds (Les_is_more), took ownership of the web site in March of 2006, but only in a technical sense. The site really belongs to the myriad riders who have volunteered their time, knowledge, and resources to help other riders enjoy sport touring to a greater extent.
Leslie was born and reared in San Diego, CA and lives there still with her husband Jamie. She's the mother of two grown boys, Evan and Damon. Leslie worked for several years as a California State Park Ranger and worked most recently teaching reading and doing music therapy for people with various learning disabilities. She's now retired and besides riding, she enjoys singing in two local early music ensembles. Leslie's interest in motorcycling was sparked by the enthusiasm and loving guidance of her husband. She got her M/C endorsement in 2001, typically rides 25,000 miles a year and does much of her own wrenching. She belongs to the Iron Butt association having completed several rides including the 50CC (coast to coast in under 50 hours)
The site is shaped daily by a great group of Moderators, including Fernando Belair, John Spicer (Spike), Mike Boomgarden (Mike), Howard Rush (PhillyFlash), Russell Bynum, Denny Pavletich (Tool), Mitchell Patrie, David Mandell (Voodoo), Jamie Edmonds (KMG_365) and Andy Long (Boffin). Many other volunteers toil behind the scenes.
Your donations ensure that the site is self-supporting without any
advertising.
There are pretty specific rules spelled out in the
user
agreement if you decide to participate in the Discussion
Board, and I invite you to read them carefully.
Best wishes as you continue riding and meeting other riders who enjoy sport touring on BMW motorcycles.
